Hayden Valkema is a lighting designer and programmer working across theatre, live entertainment, and a wide range of event productions. Originally from Plainfield, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, he is currently studying Lighting Design and Technology at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).

 

Hayden’s journey began with music, playing in band throughout his school years, which soon led him into the world of production technology—where he found his true creative home. From designing and programming plays and musicals in high school to programming large-scale productions at CCM and with Cincinnati-based company Access Audio, Hayden has gained experience across diverse environments that have equipped him with a strong technical foundation and artistic vision.

 

He specializes in programming and design and passionate about the intersection of art, design, and technology. Hayden is focused on creating powerful storytelling experiences through light and is eager to continue exploring opportunities in theatre, live entertainment and beyond.
